Hey there! I’m Hilmar.

A picture of Hilmar smiling. Pretty unusual tbh.

Interests and Hobbies

Eh… I’m working full-time, and taking care of kids. Hobbies are a bit of a pipe dream right now. But I do have some interests, and I’m hoping to turn them into hobbies one day.

  • Tinkering: I’ll tinker with whatever I get my hands on. I leave a trail of unfinished projects in my wake, and I’m happy to do so. I’ve learned a lot about expectations and planning from my failures.
  • Home maintenance: I wish I was a handyman. Usually I just break things in our home and then attempt to fix them. I’m hoping to make enough money to pay a professional to do things properly one day.
  • Cooking, and Baking: I love making food. I don’t blog about it though.
  • Programming: I’ve been programming since I was about 10, and learned about trainers on the CheatEngine forums. I don’t have my first programs, but I’m pretty sure they were trainers for Bubble Struggle, or Heli Attack 3. They were written in Visual Basic and were absolute garbage. Since then, I’ve gotten really interested in programming languages in general. There’s something about shifting the way you think about problem solving that I really dig.

The Inspiration Behind My Blog

Let’s be honest here. Blogs are a great way to establish a professional presence, and I’m happy to put in the work to try to look good. I’m hoping that some of the content I publish here will be useful to others as well. I know that blogs have been a huge source of help for me in the past, and hopefully I can pay it forward. That said, I’m not going to pretend that I’m not doing this for myself.

Purpose

I don’t believe in a prescribed purpose in life, and so I don’t have a prescribed purpose for this blog. Let’s just say that its purpose is what you make of it. Assuming of course that anyone actually reads this.
